Update

I just finished the snowman

img_1093I usually don’t make New Year’s Resolutions. My resolutions were mostly art related. Limit the number of exhibits I did. Be part of the Christmas exhibit in Marie’s Cafe on the square. I did both. I’m still membership chair of our local art league. Next year I would like to do more for pulmonary hypertension.

I have shortened my list of doctors by two. Said good-by to the GI doctor and my oncologist. GI doctor canceled my appointment. After talking to my PCP we decided she could take it from here. The oncologist has an ultrasound scheduled for March. After that if I need him I know where to find him. My thyroid is good enough to see him just once a year.

My PH is progressing. I am now on two PH medicines. The second one is inhaled. It comes from a specialist pharmacy in the mail and cost big bucks. We are very grateful for good insurance and Caring Voices. Caring Voices awarded me a grant for co-pays.

This I called Playhouse. Its made from junkmail. One of the shows I wanted to do was In The Pink. Small pictures are raffeled of for our local cancer center.

My arteriouveous malformation continues to grow and give me problems. An arteriovenous malformation is arteries and veins grown together. It is no longer safe for me to have them operated on. Hopefully I won’t get another man cold and the new medicine will work.

Baby its cold outside

Baby it’s still cold outside. We are having the coldest February on record.

Last week school was closed because the wind chill was expected to be minus 20 below.

It didn’t make minus 20 below but it was still cold.

My end of the couch is close to the window. Its cold enough to make it harder to breathe watching television.

I have a pair of mittens on my end table. This week I have had to put them on sooner because of the cold.

Pulmonary hypertension make my hands so cold at times they hurt.

I have been lucky, my next doctors appointment is not till March. I have a yearly CT scan.

Last year I had a reaction to the dye so this time I have to be premeditated and have a driver.

February being Go Red for Women month I will mention I continue to have heart palpitations. They come at strange times.

Last for longer than I would like and it doesn’t matter what I am doing.

The doctor says he can put me on meds for them but the meds would make me more tired. So I live with them and the cold.

Dave brought home roses for Valentine’s Day. That was nice and very unexpected. He asked what I wanted.

I wanted pastels in the colors of nature. So he ordered me soft pastels. Staying inside has not been bad,

My Art

Its cold in Ohio and I have been busy. The local Aquarius Art show opens February 1. The award reception is January 31 from 1 to 3 pm at our local library.

This year I was having a hard time figuring out what to submit. Everything I attempted just didn’t seem right.

I ended up going for what worked last year. Figure out something to submit that is fun to make and everything will come together.

The main thing for me is to be part of the show. Last year there were 126 pieces entered.

My pieces were there and looked good.

My brother shared some of our grandpa’s art while I was at his house for the wedding. I narrowed now the choice to two, and Ron gave me this one.

My guess is it’s the last big art project he completed. It’s a carved picture of a bear. Grandma Graves loved it. She had it in a place of honor.

Grandpa dated his pictures. This one was done in the late  60’s.

I think this was the last big art project my grandpa made.

I think this was the last big art project my grandpa made.

My first finished piece I named Grandpa’s bear. I would like to think Grandpa and Grandma Graves would really like

Grandpa's bear

Grandpa’s bear

Grandpa’s bear is a pastel. I had the frame and mat.

Dick's cat

Dick’s cat

My family laughs at me drawing a cat. I was taking pictures of the neighbors cat in hope to draw some of her beautiful flowers.

Dasher their cat came up to me, let me pet him. The poor cat was skin and bones. Two weeks later he died of lung cancer.

Dick’s cat is for all the pets we said good-by to last year. Is a pastel. I have yet to sell any picture. Dick’s cat could change that.

2015

I have been busy finishing up a couple of pictures for the upcoming art show.

Animals again this year. Every year I have to learn have fun making the pictures.

The more fun a picture is to make the better it turns out.

The first picture is a bear.

My brother gave me a picture my grandpa had made of a bear and I thought this would go good with his.

I think both he and my grandma would really like that.

I finished the second one yesterday.

The second picture is our neighbors cat. While I was taking pictures of her flowers the cat came by me.

Dasher mewed wanted me to pet him. The poor cat was skin and bones.

Dasher passed away about a week later. He was a rescue.

So I did his picture to remember any pets that passed away in 2014.

It turned out really good. This weekend we plan on framing the pictures. Take in day for the art show is January 27th.

So I will post the pictures after take in day.

My next doctors appointment is my yearly CT scan because of colon cancer the middle of March.

A week after I see the oncologist to go over the results.

The skin doctor is at the end of March. So far I go twice a year and he removes something.

I have a new pulmonary hypertension doctor. He had never heard of Cowden’s, but is willing to learn.

I have an upcoming echo, blood word and six-minute walk when I see him in June.

He wants to talk about doing a right side heart cauterization again, so he has beginning numbers,

and to see if the adcirca is helping my pulmonary hypertension.  I have had two cauterizations since 2007.

Lately my fingers have been getting really cold. This starts around four pm.

Yes I know its January and  I live in Ohio so I should be cold. But My fingers get so cold they hurt.

I have started wearing gloves inside, taking them off right before bed. It seems to help.

My next art project is to make something for the twitter art exhibit.

I will post the finished project.

I am tired

I am tired. December was a long month.

The first part of December I had a surgical biopsy to remove a growth on my left breast.

Sometime after my October mammogram I found a growth on my left breast.

In 2002  I had breast cancer in the left breast. Part of my treatment was radiation.

The growths are in the skin not part of the breast and what can happen to skin that is radiated.

I saw the surgeon the beginning of November. We scheduled the biopsy for the first part of December.

Before being put to sleep I showed my surgeon a skin tag she said to remind her to remove.

My surgeon looked handed a pen to sign off on another growth that had gotten bigger I the month she had seen me.

That was a first for me. When all was said and done. I was fine. The lumps are atypical lesions or lymphangioma.

Fast forward to December 24th. Dave’s children and families came to our home for Christmas Eve.

His granddaughter is almost two. So while the adults were talking to each other I placed with her.

That was fun, long day but fun. We got pizza again so I didn’t have to cook.

Add to our holiday time we went to an out-of-state wedding. The wedding was on December 28th.

This time I flew without getting hurt. We saw my daughter and enjoyed the wedding. I had an eight-hour wait in the airport for the flight home.

My plane was delayed about forty-five minutes but made good time getting to Cleveland.

In between presents I had to get an outfit for the wedding. First time I bought anything right off the display

For me part of traveling is spacing the water pills so I am near a bathroom when I need one..

Since colon cancer I have limited the junk I eat while traveling too. Don’t want to get sick.

As of January 1st we had a new prescription plan.  I had ordered my Adcirca, picked it up with two hour left in 20014.

Adcirca is my pulmonary hypertension medicine. Our drug store charges 400 a pill. I take two pills a day.

After looking on line the new company does not fund my Adcirca. After a call to my doctor The nurse said I am number 5 with the same problem.

All that will work out.

I am working on something for the upcoming art exhibit. So far thats looking pretty good.

How I volunteer!

I have been attending the local county art meetings.  The first part of the meeting is art league business.

Every year the art league  puts on Art in the Park. Art in the Park is an event where artists come from around the country to sell their art.

This show helps the art league to give scholarships to local graduating high school seniors to study art.

Along with helping the run the other art league events.

Every meeting I have attended they have asked for volunteers.  I finally found how I can help.

Social Medina! Who knew!

I can volunteer at home on the computer when I have the time.

I started  Medina County Art League Twitter account. Follows us @medina_art_leag

So far I have found one other art club member on Twitter. Currently we have five followers.

Thank you to everyone who follows me on Twitter @tamiarnold1

Every day I am finding something new. While tweeting for the art league, I found #TwitterArtExhibit.

#TwitterArtExhibit is an art exhibit put on by twitter followers. Any artist can donate a postcard size picture. They display the pictures and sell them to a local charity.

This year the local charity is in Moss Norway. It’s a charity that helps families. Artists send in original postcard size original works that are sold for charity.

Check out the website and all the good art Twitter art Exhibit os on Facebook too. I am still thinking about what to submit

The second part of the meeting is an art demonstration.

Last month someone talked about his drawings for Highlight magazine.

Golf course

This is a picture of a course in Massillon. In November it was at our local country club for a month.

Then the art league moved the show to a local coffee shop on the town square. My picture was up for the Candle Light Walk.

The Candle Light Walk is the start of our local Christmas season. For the last  two years there has been fire works.

This year the big deal was no port a potties in the square. Our town council built 20 public restrooms.

My big deal was my picture was hanging in the coffee shop. No one bought it but I was there.

My New Year’s Resolution was to have pictures in two local shows this year.

I made it to 4 local shows if you county our county fair. In 2015 I have more goals for my art.
