My Art

Its cold in Ohio and I have been busy. The local Aquarius Art show opens February 1. The award reception is January 31 from 1 to 3 pm at our local library.

This year I was having a hard time figuring out what to submit. Everything I attempted just didn’t seem right.

I ended up going for what worked last year. Figure out something to submit that is fun to make and everything will come together.

The main thing for me is to be part of the show. Last year there were 126 pieces entered.

My pieces were there and looked good.

My brother shared some of our grandpa’s art while I was at his house for the wedding. I narrowed now the choice to two, and Ron gave me this one.

My guess is it’s the last big art project he completed. It’s a carved picture of a bear. Grandma Graves loved it. She had it in a place of honor.

Grandpa dated his pictures. This one was done in the late  60’s.

I think this was the last big art project my grandpa made.

I think this was the last big art project my grandpa made.

My first finished piece I named Grandpa’s bear. I would like to think Grandpa and Grandma Graves would really like

Grandpa’s bear is a pastel. I had the frame and mat.

My family laughs at me drawing a cat. I was taking pictures of the neighbors cat in hope to draw some of her beautiful flowers.

Dasher their cat came up to me, let me pet him. The poor cat was skin and bones. Two weeks later he died of lung cancer.

Dick’s cat is for all the pets we said good-by to last year. Is a pastel. I have yet to sell any picture. Dick’s cat could change that.

2015

I have been busy finishing up a couple of pictures for the upcoming art show.

Animals again this year. Every year I have to learn have fun making the pictures.

The more fun a picture is to make the better it turns out.

The first picture is a bear.

My brother gave me a picture my grandpa had made of a bear and I thought this would go good with his.

I think both he and my grandma would really like that.

I finished the second one yesterday.

The second picture is our neighbors cat. While I was taking pictures of her flowers the cat came by me.

Dasher mewed wanted me to pet him. The poor cat was skin and bones.

Dasher passed away about a week later. He was a rescue.

So I did his picture to remember any pets that passed away in 2014.

It turned out really good. This weekend we plan on framing the pictures. Take in day for the art show is January 27th.

So I will post the pictures after take in day.

My next doctors appointment is my yearly CT scan because of colon cancer the middle of March.

A week after I see the oncologist to go over the results.

The skin doctor is at the end of March. So far I go twice a year and he removes something.

I have a new pulmonary hypertension doctor. He had never heard of Cowden’s, but is willing to learn.

I have an upcoming echo, blood word and six-minute walk when I see him in June.

He wants to talk about doing a right side heart cauterization again, so he has beginning numbers,

and to see if the adcirca is helping my pulmonary hypertension.  I have had two cauterizations since 2007.

Lately my fingers have been getting really cold. This starts around four pm.

Yes I know its January and  I live in Ohio so I should be cold. But My fingers get so cold they hurt.

I have started wearing gloves inside, taking them off right before bed. It seems to help.

My next art project is to make something for the twitter art exhibit.

I will post the finished project.

I am tired

I am tired. December was a long month.

The first part of December I had a surgical biopsy to remove a growth on my left breast.

Sometime after my October mammogram I found a growth on my left breast.

In 2002  I had breast cancer in the left breast. Part of my treatment was radiation.

The growths are in the skin not part of the breast and what can happen to skin that is radiated.

I saw the surgeon the beginning of November. We scheduled the biopsy for the first part of December.

Before being put to sleep I showed my surgeon a skin tag she said to remind her to remove.

My surgeon looked handed a pen to sign off on another growth that had gotten bigger I the month she had seen me.

That was a first for me. When all was said and done. I was fine. The lumps are atypical lesions or lymphangioma.

Fast forward to December 24th. Dave’s children and families came to our home for Christmas Eve.

His granddaughter is almost two. So while the adults were talking to each other I placed with her.

That was fun, long day but fun. We got pizza again so I didn’t have to cook.

Add to our holiday time we went to an out-of-state wedding. The wedding was on December 28th.

This time I flew without getting hurt. We saw my daughter and enjoyed the wedding. I had an eight-hour wait in the airport for the flight home.

My plane was delayed about forty-five minutes but made good time getting to Cleveland.

In between presents I had to get an outfit for the wedding. First time I bought anything right off the display

For me part of traveling is spacing the water pills so I am near a bathroom when I need one..

Since colon cancer I have limited the junk I eat while traveling too. Don’t want to get sick.

As of January 1st we had a new prescription plan.  I had ordered my Adcirca, picked it up with two hour left in 20014.

Adcirca is my pulmonary hypertension medicine. Our drug store charges 400 a pill. I take two pills a day.

After looking on line the new company does not fund my Adcirca. After a call to my doctor The nurse said I am number 5 with the same problem.

All that will work out.

I am working on something for the upcoming art exhibit. So far thats looking pretty good.
